Spring Programs 2018!

Say hello to spring! Our spring season will begin on Monday, March 19th and we will have a variety of programs, field trips, and events for our middle school and high school members (and some available for non-members as well!) Register for spring programs Monday, March 19th at 9am!

It's not too late to get a Youth Center membership. The membership year lasts through August 2018, and we have much more coming this year for our participants! More information on memberships can be found here!

Spring Program Guide


Daily Drop-in

Members can join in on different activities every day starting at 3:00pm. No need to sign up in advance, just check the board at the front desk and listen for the announcement! These programs are a surprise each day, are run by our part-time and full-time staff, and include anything from Chess, HQ Trivia, and Carpet Ball, to Street Hockey and Football, to Cracker Barrel, Awesomeball and Gaga! 


Middle School Programs

Homework Help – Mondays and Tuesdays from 3:00-4:00 - Cost: Free! No registration necessary. 

SOLD OUT! Step Up - Tuesdays, 3/27-6/5, approximately 3-4:30 - Join the spring session of our community service group for middle school girls! Step Up is open to girls in 6th, 7th and 8th grade and we take volunteer trips to places like Project Home Again, Lazarus House, the MSPCA, and Community Giving Tree, as well as working on projects at the Youth Center. Space is limited to 13 girls. Free for members!

SOLD OUT! Plant to Plate at Taste Buds Kitchen - Mondays, 4/2, 4/9, 4/23, 4/30, 5/7, 5/14 , 2:30-4 - Calling all Chefs! Can you turn cauliflower into a delicious pizza crust? Or transform a peach into a sweet popsicle treat? Join us as we explore all the plants you like to eat and learn new ways to spice them up. Test your green thumb abilities as we grow a mini-garden in the Taste Buds kitchen. We will cook and eat our way through a menu of sweet and savory recipes on Mondays this spring! Space is limited to 12. $120 for members, $125 for non-members.

SOLD OUT! Next Man Up - Thursdays, 4/5-6/7 approximately 3-4:30 — Introducing our community service group for middle school boys! Next Man Up is open to boys in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade, and we take volunteer trips to places all over the Merrimack Valley, such as Cor Unum, Habitat for Humanity, The Boys and Girls Club, and more, as well as working on projects at the Youth Center. Space is limited to 13 boys. Free for members!

SOLD OUT! Mountain Biking - Wednesdays, 4/4, 4/11, 4/25, 3-5:30 - If you like biking and adventure, then this program is for you! Join us for mountain biking trips on three afternoons. Transportation to each destination will be provided. If you need to borrow a bike, speak to Justin at the Youth Center. Space is limited to 6. Free for members!

SOLD OUT! Outdoor Survival Skills - Wednesdays, 5/2, 5/9, 5/16, 3-5:30 - In Gary Paulsen’s book “Hatchet” a young boy survived months in the woods using only a small hatchet he received on his 13th  birthday. He overcame many physical and mental obstacles. Would you know what to do in a survival situation? Learn the survival mindset, how to build various types of survival shelters, multiple ways to create fire, sterilize water, and signal for help using everyday materials found on your person and in the wild! Space is limited to 8. $25 for members, $30 for non-members. 


Middle School Field Trips

Register for any of these field trips starting Monday 3/19 at 9:00 online or with our registration form! Different member and non-member fees apply.

SOLD OUT! Metro Rock - Friday, 5/18, 3:00-6:00 - We’re headed to Metro Rock in Newburyport for a fun filled afternoon of rock climbing and bouldering! Space is limited to 13. $30 for members, $35 for non-members.

SOLD OUT! Kimball Farm - Wednesday, 5/23, 1:15-5:30 - Join Kyle for an afternoon at one of New England’s premier outdoor fun spots! Kimball’s Farm offers a multitude of activities including mini golf, bumper boats and bumper cars, a zip line, and more! Of course the day would not be complete without some Old Country Store ice cream! Students will be picked up at NAMS, and will be dropped off at the Youth Center. Space is limited to 12. $50 for members, $55 for non-members.

SOLD OUT! Paintball - Saturday, 6/2, 9:30-4:30 - Come participate in a full Saturday afternoon with one of the most extreme sports there is to offer! Games such as capture the flag, attack and defend, and team elimination will be played. All protective gear and paintball equipment will be provided! Space is limited to 13 middle school boys & girls. $75 for members, $80 for non-members.

SOLD OUT! Ropes Course - Wednesday, 6/6, 1:15-5:30 - Join us high in the trees with the Youth Center’s very own ropes course! The students will be picked up at NAMS after school, and dropped off at the Youth Center. Space is limited to 13. $25 for members, $30 for non-members.

SOLD OUT! K1 Speed Racing Go-Karts - Wednesday, 6/13, 2:30-6:00 -  Feel like a pro and come get suited up to hit top speeds with Kyle at K1 Speed Racing. Kids will get to participate in three 12-lap races around one of the best indoor courses in New England! Space limited to 12. $60 for members, $65 for non-members. **Note: Participants must be between 4’0 and 5’3” to attend.**


Middle School Events

Check out the events coming up this season! Some are drop-in (Movie Knights and Half Day Contests!) and some require a registration - see the front desk with any questions! 

Half Day Contests – All Collab Days at 2:00! - Join Kyle in the gym for contests such as skills, 3-point shootouts, half-court shot, knockout and more on collab days!

6th Grade Dance - Friday, 3/23, 7-9:30 - $7 for members, $10 for non-members, for NA Resident 6th graders. This was the 6th graders' winter season dance rescheduled from 3/2 due to a power outage!

Video Game Night - Friday, 3/30, 5-7 PM Join Justin in the gym for a NHL 18 tourney!

7th Grade Dance - Friday, 4/6, 7-9:30 - $7 for members, $10 for non-members, for NA Resident 7th graders.

Movie Knights - Fridays, 4/13, 5/4 from 5-7 PM

6th Grade Dance - Friday, 5/11, 7-9:30 - $7 for members, $10 for non-members, for NA Resident 6th graders

Youth Appreciation Day Wednesday, 5/30, 1:30-3:30, By Invitation Only! This is our annual awards ceremony and cookout for our middle school & high school volunteers! Anyone who volunteers with us throughout the year should keep an eye out for their invitations. Don’t miss this fun event where we recognize our hardworking youth volunteers for their impact on our community! 

Summer Kickoff Party - Last Day of School, Free for members, $5/non members. More information to come on our fun party on the last day of school! Involves a cookout, inflatables, a DJ and more!


High School Programs & Events 

Leadership Groups: We will be continuing with meetings and activities for our three leadership groups: Helping Hands, Freshmen/Sophomore Youth Council, and Junior/Senior Youth Council. Applicants are chosen at the beginning of each year, and work on projects as a group during the school year. Keep an eye out for information on how to help these groups make a difference in our community, including supporting our Helping Hands crew fundraise their way to the Merrimack Valley Relay for Life!

Spring Black Knights - Mondays starting 4/2, 5:30-8. 3 vs. 3 Basketball league for high school Boys. The league will feature two divisions, varsity and JV. Teams may have up to four players, and may have a maximum of two players who played on a Freshman, Junior Varsity, or Varsity teams with North Andover High School. 4th Annual Teen Job Fair - Wednesday, 3/21, 6:00-8:00. High School students of North Andover – come meet with local businesses, restaurants and organizations about job opportunities for the spring, summer and beyond! Meet with representatives from places like the YMCA, Stachey’s, Launch Trampoline Park, Maker Mill, North Andover Community Programs, and more!
