Summer Staff Training

Each spring, we go through the arduous process of hiring over 140 high school and college students to work our summer programs. Once the staff is chosen, we hold our annual Summer Staff Training. Each year, this training grows and encompasses more and more, to properly prepare our staff members for the summer ahead. Many of the elements of the training are planned and carried out by some of our college staff that are in leadership positions. The training starts with creative icebreakers designed to take the staff beyond their comfort level, team building activities, and a training of overall logistics of working for Youth & Recreation Services, along with specific site-based training. We have members of the North Andover Fire Department come in for first aid training and an NAPS staff training on working with the Special Education population. Our training prepares our staff to go into the summer ready to make a difference in the lives of hundreds of North Andover children!
