Step Up was started by Micaela & Demi in the fall of 2012 - it is a community service group for middle school girls in grades 6-8 created as a way for girls to meet new people and get more involved at the Youth Center and in the community.
Step Up has three different sessions throughout the year: fall, winter and spring. The group meets every Tuesday afternoon, either at the Youth Center, or carrying out a project in the community. There is also a 1-week session of Step Up run in the summer.
You can register for Step Up during each season's program registration (first day of school for fall, the Monday after Thanksgiving for winter, mid-March for spring, and first Monday in April for summer!) Middle school girls must be Youth Center members to participate in Step Up. Contact Demi with any questions about the program.
Over the years we have worked on a wide range of projects to benefit others. Favorite Step Up projects include painting rocks for the Kindness Rocks Project, volunteering at the MSPCA, decorating the North Andover Senior Center for the holidays, making crafts or meals at the Lazarus House Family Shelter, dinner prep at the Cor Unum Meal Center, organizing donations at sites like Project Home Again, Community Giving Tree, and Bread & Roses, running Bingo, painting nails, and serving tea at the Brightview Senior Center, and many, many more!
