Rick Gorman - Executive Director
Rick has been Executive Director of Youth & Recreation Services since it began in 1988. He received his Masters Degree in Community Social Psychology from the University of Massachusetts - Lowell in 1993 and received his Bachelors degree in Government and Pre-Law from Suffolk University in 1984. Rick has been the recipient of numerous local, state, and national awards in his past 25 years with Youth Services. In 1993 he received the prestigious Lord Baden Powell Award for Distinguished Citizenship. In 2005 Rick was inducted into the ABA (Academic Basketball Awareness Camp) Hall of Fame. Rick's biggest accomplishment was overseeing the planning and building of the state of the art Joseph N. Hermann Youth Center which opened in 2000.
Rick is responsible for managing the Youth Center, creating, implementing and overseeing programs, conducting long range planning, capital improvement and fundraising, as well as supervising staff members and volunteers. Rick also oversees the Town's Field Commision, Stevens Pond Bathing Beach and Summer Childrens' and Concert Series. Although Rick’s responsibilities lie mostly in administration these days, he does find time to facilitate some programming such as, the North Andover Fall Ball League and the collaborative Core 4 program.
Rick’s passion lies in kids and youth sports. He has coached numerous teams at various levels and is often consulted by youth sports organizations on issues from philosophy, character development, team building and training. Rick is also founder of the widely popular New England Storm Basketball Club as well as the critically acclaimed B.S.T Training program.
In his spare time Rick enjoys running skill development clinics, reading, spending time with the fam, working out, competing in fitbit challenges, listening to Bruce and following his beloved Spurs, Celtics, Raiders and Yankees. Rick is also working on a number of writing projects and is an avid blogger and contributor to a number of basketball websites. Rick is married to Nancy and has two children Michael and Lyndsey.
Demi Tetrault - Assistant Director
Demi has been involved at the Youth Center since her high school years, where she started by volunteering in leadership programs like Youth Council and Diversity Committee. At that time, Demi began working for Youth Services part time in the building and as a Summer Fun counselor. She worked at Summer Fun for five years, starting at the Atkinson site with the 1st and 2nd graders, and going on to become co-coordinator of the Drummond site, working with 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. Since then, Demi has held many different roles with various age groups in after school programs and field trips, before becoming Assistant Director in September 2016. She still runs some of her favorite programs while Assistant Director, including Step Up, Youth Council, and summer Girls Weeks!
Demi graduated from Bentley University in 2010 with a BS in Marketing and a Psychology minor. When she's not working, Demi loves to read, see musicals, and spend time with her family and friends!
Justin Barry - Recreation Coordinator
Justin joined the NAYRS team in March 2016. He has been involved in a variety of recreational roles, such as a Phillips Academy Soccer Instructor, working for the Billerica and Danvers Recreation Departments, and the Billerica Boys and Girls Club, where he was a long time staff member of over 8 years. During this time time he discovered his passion, being a respected role model and working with children and teens. He began by working as a staff member at the Club's after school program working with grades K-5, as well as working with 7th & 8th graders during summer camp. He has had many different roles in recreation, such as mentor, homework help, activity organizer, and athletics manager.
Justin graduated from Salem State University with a BS in Recreation Management. Justin loves to be active and enjoys watching/playing sports such as football, baseball, basketball and hockey, Go B's! In his spare time he likes the outdoors, enjoys cookouts, the beach, and fishing in the summer!
Kyle Palladino - Social Programs Coordinator
Kyle has been a North Andover resident his entire life. Voted "Most Likely to Live in North Andover" in his 2012 high school class, he considers himself a townie. He spent three summers during his college years as a Summer Fun counselor, at both Atkinson and Drummond. He spent his high school and college years as a basketball manager where he gained a passion for the sport. He spent the last year working with UMass Lowell Athletics as an event management assistant.
Kyle graduated from Bridgewater State University in May 2016 with a BA in Communication Studies. He enjoys spending his time working out, hanging with friends, and watching his beloved Red Sox, Celtics, Patriots, and Bruins. He also is a big fan of the Duke Blue Devils basketball and Penn State football teams.
Brenna Carney - Support Services Coordinator
Brenna is very excited to be joining the North Andover Youth and Recreation Services team. She has been working with children from six weeks old to seniors in high school for over seven years. She started with working in afterschool programs at Girls Inc. of Lowell, where she ran programs called Fearless Females, Be Bold, Go Girl Go, and Operation: STEM. She also serves on the volunteer council for Comfort Zone Camp and is always seeking out ways to be more involved in the community. She received her bachelors from Bridgewater State University in 2015 with a degree in Early Childhood Education and Care and a minor in Special Education. She is very passionate about education, inclusion, and most of all having fun while learning!
When Brenna is not working, she enjoys going to York, ME, hiking, and exploring all that New England has to offer; especially Red Sox Games!
Molly Malandrino - Holiday Giving Coordinator
Molly has been involved with the Youth Center since her middle school years. She has worked many jobs and been an active member in many programs. After receiving a BA in Sociology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in May 2011, she began working with adults with disabilities. In September of 2013, she starting working as the Youth Center's Support Services Coordinator. She loved working hard on the Thanksgiving and Holiday drives, Helping Hands and getting to know all the kids involved in the Youth Center. Molly has since moved back to working with adults with developmental disabilities in social and day programs. Though she is no longer working full time at the Youth Center, she is still involved here as a Program Coordinator for the Core 4 leadership group, and coordinator of our Thanksgiving and Holiday Drives. In her free time, Molly likes to cook, go to the beach and loves all things leopard print!
Tod Workman - Volunteer Building Supervisor
By day Tod is the senior custodian at the North Andover Middle school but whenever something breaks, the walls need painting, electrical and plumbing issues arise its Tod Workman we call. Tod is a jack of all trades and always wears a smile. A graduate of North Andover High school where he excelled on the championship Wrestling teams in the mid eighties. Tod is married to Lisa and the father of Leah and Austin.
