Historic Preservation Master Plan

Strategy 73 of the Town of North Andover's Master Plan (2018) calls for "Creat[ing] a local Historic Preservation Master Plan to identify resources for stronger protection of historic resources, improvements to strengthen effectiveness of existing historic and neighborhood conservation districts, and protection of historic town records." In response to this, the Town's Planning Department in December 2023 solicited proposals from qualified consultants to help develop such a plan.

In January 2024, the Town selected and entered into a contract with Heritage Strategies for this project. The deliverable will be a Plan that will act as a guiding document for historic preservation stakeholders in North Andover to better understand the context surrounding the town's historic preservation processes, governance, and assets, as well as how to best augment its historic preservation programming. Heritage Strategies is a historic preservation consulting firm that is experienced in working with community preservation programs, historical commissions, and local governments across the United States. In Massachusetts, they have prepared comparable preservation plans for the Towns of Falmouth, Lenox, and Sudbury, as well as the City of Beverly.
