What is the process for being hired?

The North Andover Fire Department withdrew from the Massachusetts Civil Service process in July of 2023.  We no longer accept the civil service exam that is offered by the state.  We will be offering an exam every two years on the even year in November.  The notice will be posted on the fire department and town websites, through social media accounts and other avenues.  The exam is the first step in the process to become a North Andover Firefighter

The process includes but not limited to:

• Town exam (general knowledge)
• Extensive Background Check
• Interview Panel
• Medical Physical (general health, cardiac, drug testing, PFT, etc)
• Psychological Exam
• PAT Exam
