Fall Programs 2018

The Youth Center will open for the fall season on 9/5. Fall program and membership registration will begin on TUESDAY 9/4 at 9:00am! Middle school and high school students can get memberships and register for the variety of programs we have to offer! Check out our Fall Program Guide and fall program listing below to see everything we are offering this season! Many programs and trips will fill up fast!

The registration sheet is used to sign up at the YC with cash or check, beginning 9/4 at 9:00am!

Online Registration 

You can sign up online with a credit card or electronic check. Our online registration host does not accept Visa. 


Middle School Programs

 

Grillin’ and Chillin’: Mondays 9/17 - 10/1, 3:00-4:30pm  Cost: $45/mem, $50/non Learn to properly use a grill to make delicious food such as chicken and veggie kabobs, grilled chicken tacos, ultimate cheeseburgers, and grilled corn on the cob! Space is limited to 8 middle school boys and girls.

Archery: Mondays 10/15 - 10/29, 3:00-4:15pm  Cost: $75/mem, $80/non  Master the bow and arrow to shoot like Robin Hood with lessons from On the Mark Archery! Learn safety and perfect form as well as playing multiple archery games against fellow members. Space is limited to 15 middle school boys and girls.

SOLD OUT! Step Up: Tuesdays 9/18 - 10/30, 2:30-4:30pm  Cost: Free (Members Only) Join the fall session of our community service group for middle school girls! Step Up is open to girls in 6th, 7th and 8th grade and we take volunteer trips to places like Project Home Again and Community Giving Tree. Make new friends, give back, and have fun! Space is limited to 13 middle school girls.

SOLD OUT! Fishing: Wednesdays 10/10 & 10/24, 1:15-5:30pm (Early Release Days)  Cost: $10/ mem, $15/non  Join us for 2 days of fishing at NARA park this season. All rods, tackle, and bait will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own. Let’s go catch some monster bass! Space is limited to 10 middle school boys and girls.

SOLD OUT! Next Man Up Thursdays 9/20 - 11/1, 2:30-4:30pm  Cost: Free (Members Only) Next Man Up is back after a successful pilot program in Spring 2018! We will continue great community service work around the Merrimack Valley at organizations including Bread and Roses, Lazarus House, Kids Stop programs, and much more! Space is limited to 13 middle school boys.

SOLD OUT! Mountain Biking Thursdays 11/1 - 11/15, 2:30-5:30pm  Cost: Free (Members Only)  Join us for 3 separate Mountain Biking adventures! We will be heading to Harold Parker State forest as well as other local mountain biking trails! If you do not have a Mountain Bike please contact Justin and we will do our best to accommodate you! Space is limited to 6 middle school boys and girls.


Middle School Trips & Events  

 

Welcome Week:  September 10th - 14th, 3:00-4:00  Cost: Free  Join us as we welcome all of the middle schoolers to the Youth Center with new games each day! Meet the staff and see an example of what the YC has to offer after school!

Collab Day Contests Early Release Wednesdays 9/19, 10/10, 10/24, and 11/7, 2:00  Cost: Free  Join Kyle in the gym for contests such as skills, 3-point shootouts, half-court shot, knockout and more on collab days!

SOLD OUT! Ropes Course  Wednesday 9/19, 1:15-5:00pm (Early Release Day)  Cost: $25/mem, $30/non  Join us at our very own Youth Center Ropes Course! Conquer our various elements such as the Ball Jump, Wild Woozy, Ships Passing, Giants Ladder, etc. Space is limited to 13 middle school boys and girls.

SOLD OUT! Wamesit Lanes  Friday 9/21, 2:30-6:00pm  Cost: $25/mem, $30/non  A popular spot in the Merrimack Valley area! Join Kyle for a fun afternoon of bowling and arcade games! Students will be picked up at NAMS after school, and brought back to the Youth Center for pick-up at 6:00. Space is limited to 11 middle school boys and girls.

7th Grade Dance  Friday 10/5, 7:00-9:30  Cost: $7/mem, $10/non  We will hold one dance for 7th graders and one for 6th graders each season (Fall, Winter and Spring) Dances are at the Youth Center and are for North Andover residents only. Pay at the door! Members, please bring your card to every dance. The Youth Center closes at 4:45 p.m. on dance nights.

Paintball  Saturday 10/20, 10:00am-4:30pm  Cost: $65/mem, $70/non  Join us for an action packed day at Merrimack Valley Paintball! Multiple scenarios such as capture the flag, attack and defend, and team elimination will be played. Space is limited to 13 middle school boys and girls.

6th Grade Dance Friday 11/9, 7:00-9:30   Cost: $7/mem, $10/non  We will hold one dance for 7th graders and one for 6th graders each season (Fall, Winter and Spring) Dances are at the Youth Center and are for North Andover residents only. Pay at the door! Members, please bring your card to every dance. The Youth Center closes at 4:45 p.m. on dance nights.

Rock Climbing  Wednesday 11/14, 1:15-5:30pm (Early Release Day)  Cost: $25/mem, $30/non  Challenge yourself to the various rock climbing and bouldering walls at Boston Rock Gym in Woburn! Space is limited to 13 middle school boys and girls.

Turkey Toss & Half Court Shot  Wednesday, November 21st starting at 11:30 Cost: Free   Every Wednesday before Thanksgiving we open at 11:30, and hold our annual half court shot competition and annual Turkey Toss.  In the Turkey Toss, kids pair up to see how far they can throw and catch the 10 pound turkey. Prizes awarded!


High School Programs

 

Freshman/Sophomore Youth Council - Tuesdays 7:30-8:30 starting 9/25  Freshman/Sophomore Youth Council is a group of freshmen & sophomores led by Kyle that participate in projects like organizing the Powderpuff Football tournament, volunteering at elementary schools, serving at the soup kitchen and more! Applications are due to the Youth Center by Wednesday 9/19, and if chosen the first meeting will be 9/25 at 7:30. Junior/Senior Youth Council - Wednesdays 6:00-7:00 starting 9/27  Junior/Senior Youth Council is a group led by Demi for dedicated high school juniors and seniors who will participate in community service activities and events, including coordinating the annual Powderpuff Football tournament, Buddy Day, and the Teen Job Fair. Applications are due to the Youth Center by Wednesday 9/19, and if chosen the first meeting will be 9/27 at 6:30. Mentor Volunteer Program - Thursdays 6:00-7:00 starting 10/18  Mentor Volunteer Program is a brand new leadership group offering the opportunity for juniors and seniors to mentor middle school students. Mentors and Mentees will build relationships throughout the year through community service, fun activities, and facilitated paired and group discussions covering topics such as self-esteem, social media, goal setting and more! Applications are due to the Youth Center by Friday, October 12th, and if chosen the first meeting will be 10/18 at 6:00. APPLICATION HERE!


Elementary School Programs

 

Youth on Track - Sundays 4:00-5:00  9/30 - 10/28  Cost: $25 per child  Youth on Track is a new collaboration between NAYRS and the NA Health Department that began in Spring 2018. It is a running program for ages 3-9, giving them an opportunity to participate in individualized exercise and fun competition while fostering a sense of autonomy and a love of exercise. Each week will have timed fun runs, giving children motivation to build on their personal best! More info here and registration form here to sign up at the YC! Saturdays at the Youth Center - Saturdays 9/29 - 6/8, 1:00-4:00  Cost: $3 drop-in  Saturday program at the Youth Center for North Andover 4th and 5th graders! More info here!
