Water Conservation - Rain Sensors
Rain Sensors
A rain sensor is a conservation device that shuts off an automatic irrigation system when an absorbing dish gets wet from rain, preventing the waste of water during rain showers. The dish expands when wet, depressing a switch which breaks the ground from the controller. After the rain has stopped, the dish dries out at a similar rate as the turf. Once the dish is dry, it contracts and releases the switch. The system then returns to its normal watering cycle.
