Abandoned/Unclaimed Checks

According to Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 200A, Section 9A, checks issued by the Town of North Andover are void if not cashed within one year of the date of issue. You can, however, get the check reissued.

If your name is on this list, you can get your check reissued by using the following procedure:

  • Fill out the Abandoned and Unclaimed Funds Form in its entirety.
  • Sign the form. It must be returned to us with an original signature - electronic copies, photocopies and e-mailed copies will not be accepted
  • Return the completed form to the Office of the Treasurer/Collector at North Andover Town Hall. You can drop it off in person (120 Main Street), leave it in the drop box located in front of Town Hall, or by mail to PO Box 124, North Andover, MA 01845

Fiscal Year 2024 third quarter tax bills are due on 2/1/24. Bills are considered paid when received in the Collector's Office. Postmark dates on envelopes are not accepted as the date of payment. If you are sending in an online bank check (AKA electronic check) please be sure to have the "current year" bill number or address on the check to properly identify where the check should be applied.

Electronic checks are sent in the mail from your bank. Please allow enough time to receive your payment on time. All payments are to be received by the Collector's office by the due date. Payments are processed the day they are received. Late payments will incur interest/penalties.

The Registry of Motor Vehicles does not notify the Tax Office if you no longer own your vehicle. Please contact the Assessor's Office if you no longer have the vehicle on which you received an excise bill. Thank you!
